NJ Transit doles out millions of dollars each year to settle claims related to pedestrians who have been struck by NJ Transit buses, resulting in brain injuries, crushed hands and feet, disfigurement or — in a few cases — death, records show. http://www.northjersey.com/news/nj-state-news/injury-lawsuits-are-a-costly-for-nj-transit-1.547090
LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Alternative Press recently received tips from commuters on the Community Coach 77 bus line that bus drivers have been engaging in unsafe practices while vehicles are in motion. https://www.tapinto.net/articles/community-coach-says-no-comment-to-allegations

Alternatives supports this legislation to protect New Jersey from reckless bus drivers.
Transportation
Alternatives, New Jersey, NJ
On Wednesday
July 18th 3016 Deshon was on his way to work when he was killed by
Community Coach Bus Driver Wilson Romaine operating NJ Transit bus 709 refused
to stop and pick up victim Johnson at the bus stop. Johnson flags the bus to
stop. Instead Romaine continues to drive recklessly speeding pass by the bus
stop and jumped the curb where Johnson stood dragging him to his demise. We
must use our voice to push for tougher penalties. These crimes are becoming an
epidemic not only in New Jersey and across the nation!
Unbelievable! Stupidity!
If this was the pain of the lawmakers the law would be changed really quick!
This hits home
for three reasons. First, I am a native New Jersey. Second, I recently lost a
loved one in a bus incident. Third, I still drive in New Jersey occasionally.
We have to all do a better job driving carefully and taking care of one another
on the roads.
This is not just
happening in New Jersey, but all over the USA. Please take a moment & think
about your family....Would you just let a reckless bus drivers and a driver
killed one of your children/ families members? Stricter penalties should have
already been on the law. But, that's what you get when you let the Government
take control of raising our children & taking away the entire obeisance
from the parents....No remorse! Our children do grow up to be adults, now you
see without responsibility the need to show humans, this means no discipline,
no concise, no nothing, because they don't care. Stricter Laws needs to be in
place.
These reckless
bus drivers should be charged with murder especially when the driver admitted
seeing the passenger/pedestrian Johnson also if the pedestrian. They kill with
the bus just as if it were a weapon. I
hope this man's family gets justice.
Someone needs to
be the voice for those who are no longer here due to someone else's negligence
and lack of empathy. We are their voice.
I'm signing this
because something needs to change
The value of
human life must be preserved.
NJ Laws are too
liberal, this needs to change. If you take a life you must pay the price in
Jail.
So heartbreaking. Whats wrong with these people who say they saw the
person twice who trying to get on the bus an continue speeding then jumped the
curb, then admit to the police that he
saw his victim with no remorse after they've killed or hurt a human being?
People should be held
accountable for their irresponsible and reckless behavior.
JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL
People must be held
accountable for their actions.
Too many innocent people loose their lives from these reckless bus drivers
My deepest condolences.
This is a very sad situation that we see on the rise.
There is such a lack of
human compassion, no empathy just disconnect and selfishness. Weak laws
encourage and support such behavior because people are not afraid to drive
under the influence, texting, suspense license, masturbating, legal/ street drugs, fraction on their cdl licence, counting tickets or drunk knowing they will repeatedly get a slap on the wrist and be allowed to continue to drive.
We need
much stricter laws in every aspect to be the voice of the innocent.
We need to
have stricter laws for those that have no compassion for human life

ALL Reckless Bus Drivers need Heavily Punished!
The acts of the driver
are tantamount to Murder, which deserves a strong law to deter such actions.
AL L LIVES MATTER.THIS
IS A SENSELESS CRIME
I'm signing this
petition because my heart breaks for Johnson and there MUST be justice. People
MUST be held accountable for their actions. For the government to allow
leniency for reckless bus drivers....the blood of the innocent is on those law
makers hands as well.
I am so sick of seeing
this! The laws are allowing to bus drivers to get away with legalize murder and
call it an accident without further investigation- especially if you the driver admitted see the victim and continue to kill him!!! You get time for killing an animal or gun violence. This type of killing is bus violence.
I don't understand why people don't think you
should go to jail if you kill someone who are never going to go home to their
love. Johnson mother, his family and closet friends life change for every. Regardless of whether or not you injure
someone and especially if you kill someone!!!!!!!!! Jail time. Period!!!!!
I want the driver to face charges. This young man should still be by his
mother's side. He was takeing care of his disable mother.
Strength in unity!
How sad!! There needs
to be punishment for this kind of thing, it's the same as murder!!
Deshon Johnson " Late " Loving & Caring Son for
22 years+ Wonderful Years Deshon Deserves " Full " Justice, and the
Non-Human P.O.S. Monster who Ran him down, then get away with vehicular homicide murder who was speeding and jumped the curb. Fled reckless speeding driving which led to Johnson's Untimely Death Needs
To Be Prosecuted Fully, then Imprisoned For The Remainder of his or her
Miserable Life, or Publically ;~o
I'm signing because New
York needs laws that protect victims and punish criminals, not the other way
around.
New Jersey State
legislators need to wake up and do their job!!
New Jersey
law system isnt the greatest, especially now since governor Chris Christine has been in office.
I'm signing this
because all states need to have stricter laws for this very subject
I'm signing this
because of what happened to Deshon Johnson when
Wilson Romaine was speeding and refused to pick up his passengers Johnson.
Sadly Johnson's Law has been ignored by the
state assembly. Please reference the prior attempt to pass Johnson's Law.
You need to blame the governor for all of this corruption and
cover up with NJ Transit trains and buses because he over see NJ Transit; Essex
County Prosecutor. You also can blame Essex County executive for ignore the
construction work that was left for months where Johnson was killed. Once
Johnson, got killed they rushed to fixed the area to cover up evidence of the scene.
At a more general level, laws governing drivers' actions need to be
tougher.
This a travesty of
justice and needs to be addressed and changed asap.
I feel this should be a
national law.
I lost my granddaughter
to a careless bus driver. Having someone take your loved one's life and not be
responsible is even worse.
This man has to be
brought to justice.
This needs to change.
Current law isn't
working for the victim.
Everyone should be held
accountable for their actions, weather they're premeditated or an accident.
There is no gray area in this matter.
Victims who killed by a reckless bus drivers are victims. As well
as their family. They deserve just as much justice as a gunshot victim, or any
other!
Because it also
happened to our family. 5yr. old Benjamins death was never brought to justice.
No one was ever even arrested or charged. Senseless!!!
THIS IS WRONG , YOU DO
THE CRIME ,YOU DO THE TIME! THESE SENSELESS DEATH CAUSE BY RECKLESS BUS DRIVERS
GETTING OUT OF HAND ALL OVER AMERICA,NOT JUST NEW JERSEY! WE MUST MAKE TOUGHER
LAWS SO THEY WILL THINKS TWICE BEFORE THEY DO IT!!!
the penalties for a
heinous act like this need to match deliberate cause of death offenses. There
is not enough a deterent otherwise.
Not only does there
need to be stricter penalties. But enforcement also needs to be increased.
Their are other violations besides speeding law enforcement needs to look for.
Please stop this madness. Hold these people accountable for taking
innocent lives. The public is at risk.
because this is
wrong!!! these laws need to pass!
Must be prosecuted.
There should be
mandatory sentencing on this no community service
Our laws must be
changed so that committing murder with a bus is no longer treated lightly. It
should be treated for what it is, murder/man-slaughter and punished
accordingly. I realize the reason this has been difficult to be made into law
is because most of us drive, lawmakers included. It's time we all take
responsibility for our actions and the risks we incur behind the wheel.
Stricter Laws needed!!
I'm against reckless
bus driving & any kind of crime that can lead an innocent person to be
injury or lead to a death..
The loss of a
life due to another negligence must be answered to and accounted for .
Speeding and jumping the curb then dragging the victim with the bus to
his death should not be the better choice for these cowards. Raising the penalty
to a C felony would save the lives that matter a great deal to all of us. Make
it Johnson's law!
Senseless Crime Law need
to be changed!
It sickens me that people can hit someone with a bus and leave them for
dead because they are so selfish that they would rather let someone die than
face the consequences of medical or
under the influence. Then the prosecutor office cover it up.
These bus driver or guilty but the prosecutor of vehicular homicide try to cover it up like these police officer
killing Afro-American around the world. They should receive life in prison! New
Jersey state really needs to rethink bringing back the death penalty too
instead of taxing honest citizens to house heinous criminals!
Such a tragedy! The law
is so unfair in these situations.
Speeding reckless is a
crime then killing, Killing
should quadrupple it.
It IS a serious crime
to kill someone, but current laws don't reflect that!
Stricter penalties will make people
think twice about their job etc.
I'm signing
because these drivers, depending on status, get off relatively lightly in these
charges. If it is an accident, stopping when you hit someone shouldn't be a
problem. This leads me to believe that there are other laws you are breaking at
the time.
I believe if people start boycotting NJ Transit this shit will stop. You
have to hit them in the pockets. Once people start car pooling or find other
means of transportation they would fire these drivers and take the deaths seriously.
Serious issue and we
need serious consequences.
This is important
because bad drivers kill more people than guns. Anyone can be a victim and too
many have been victimized already. I don't know why our legislators are
blocking this. It is common sense.
Because bad drivers
kill more people than guns. I don't know why our legislators would block
something so obvious. They are scary.
Too many DWIS escape
prosecution or serious penalties because of political connections and old boy
support. One Family Court judge serving 30 +years on the bench is one example of
the minimal consequences.
We need to change the
laws,,it could have been your loved ones. Let's make a change!
Changes need to be made and stricter punishment imposed.
Too many bad drivers
get away with murder.
Hit and Run drivers are
murderers! The family should not have to bare the feeling that the person that
killed their loved one is no worse then being killed with a gun!!
This bill will bring
the felony class up to the level in Arizona. About time New Jersey caught up.
Human Life is precious,
we don't have the right to take it lightly.
This person should be held responsible, and any others in similar circumstances.
Make Reckless Bus Drivers responsible.
Killing people is a
CRIME. Assault is assault. Manslaughter is
manslaughter Vehicular homicide is vehicular homicide. Running someone over while speeding and jumping the curb should count for more than a traffic offense.
manslaughter Vehicular homicide is vehicular homicide. Running someone over while speeding and jumping the curb should count for more than a traffic offense.
This bus driver never was charged he walks away a free man is fucked up.
Speeing+ admiting to seeing the victim + jumping the curb= flat right up murder
Bus Drivers
People are getting away with murder.
