List of Celebrities Whose Children Died, loosely ranked by fame and popularity. It is always a tragedy when a parent outlives their child. Unfortunately, several famous people have had children who passed away at a young age. Some famous people create memorial funds for their children, while others pay tribute to them in song.






Bill Cosby and wife Camille Olivia Hanks's only son, Ennis Cosby, was shot to death on Jan. 16, 1997, when he was 27. At the time, he was changing a tire on the side of the road. Anna Nicole Smith's son, Daniel, died at age 20 on Sept. 10, 2006, of a lethal combination of Zoloft, Lexapro, and methadon. Daniel Smith's father is Billy Wayne Smith, and he was half-brother to Dannielynn Birkhead. Anna Nicole Smith died at age 39, just 6 months after her son's death, on February 8, 2007. Naomi Johnson only son, Deshon Johnson aka Sean Cos Mason was tragically run over by the bus he was supposed to be on by Wilson Romaine Coach USA bus driver operating NJ Transit bus 709 Wednesday July 18, 2012 when he jumped the curb knocked him down then dragged him 50 to 100 feet to his  death when he was 22. Mary Tyler Moore's only son, Richard Meeker, Jr., died at age 24 of an accidental gunshot wound on Oct. 14, 1980. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden lost his baby daughter, Naomi, in 1972 when she was one year old. His wife Neilia had been driving with the couple's three children when it was hit by a tractor trailer. Charlie Chaplin's first child, Norman Spencer Chaplin, died in 1919 three days after he was born. Then, in 1968, his son Charlie Chaplin, Jr., died at age 42 of a blood clot in the lungs.
