Psychic Versus Prophet: Is There a Difference?
Prophets and psychics can both see into the spirit world and predict the
past, present and the future. The psychic and the prophet both speak in
front of churches and groups of people. Both are allowed to accept money for their prophetic words of wisdom. However, why is it
that one is associated more with good and the other evil? When you say
the word psychic to a lot of people, the word scam artist, the devil,
fortune teller may come to mind first. However, when you mention the
word prophet, you may associate it with Christian, Muslim or Hebrew
prophets of God. Why is this the mentality?
The fact of the matter is that not all psychics practice witchcraft or do fortune telling. Witchcraft has a lot to do with spells and potions. A psychic may see into the past, present and future, but may not necessarily practice the witchcraft, tarot, rune or astrology. A clairvoyant psychic can only see something through their third eye or hearing it as a prophetic word from God. The prophet hears it the same way. They cannot physically speak to God through writing or speaking. How then are they hearing from God then? Many Christian televangelists will get up in front of millions of people weekly and say, "God told me to to do this last night......" How do they know that this word came from God? They are using their own mind and third eye to physically interpret what they believe to be the voice of God. How then is a prophet good and a psychic evil?
Perhaps you may be saying to yourself that psychics are evil because they charge money for what they do. However, Christian prophets such as Bishop Jordan live in a multi-million dollar home and he drives around in fancy vehicles. He also charges nearly $300 for a prophetic word from God and $3,000 for prophetic training. Also, Christian televangelist Benny Hinn lives in a million dollar home and drives around in high end cars and lives the high life? This money is donated to him by parishoners of his church and those that contribute money to his charity. Other Christian ministers and prophets living the high life are: Rev. Run (from former group Run-DMC; popular in the 80's), T.D. Jakes, TBN (Television Broadcasting Network) owner Paul Crouch and Joyce Myers. You will not find these ministers and prophets living in apartments or driving older vehicles. Many Christians have interpreted this high lifestyle of living as blessings from God. However, when a psychic charges money for conducting a psychic reading, then they are all of a sudden considered evil, of the devil and not prophetic. They are looked down upon as serving Satan himself.
Let us first make a decision on what a prophet actually is. There are prophets from every religion. Some say that the Muslim prophets are the true prophets of God and others say that the Hebrew prophets are the true prophets of God. Still we have Christians that say Jesus is the Messiah and the Jewish faith states that he was not the Messiah. We have experts on both sides that have studied the scriptures for years and hold Doctorate degrees in Divinity that state that they have all the right answers. The Christian faith says that their prophets are the true prophets and the Muslim and Hebrew faith say that they hold the true prophets of God. Who do we believe then?
The fact of the matter is that a prophet is someone who believes that they have a word from God. It is taught that a true prophets word will come to pass and a false prophets word will not. Instead of passing judgement on someone to quickly, we must see if the word comes to pass.
A psychic does the same thing as prophet does. They believe that God is speaking to them and they give you a prophetic word about it. You cannot say that they are hearing from the devil and the prophet is hearing from God because neither one can physically hear or speak to God. It is only through their thought process that this is interpreted. The prophets and psychics from all of the faiths believe that they are hearing from God. Who can we trust then? If the Christian community says that God only speaks through their prophets, then what are we to say to the Muslim and Jewish faith? If the Muslim and Hebrew faith says that their prophets are the true hearers of God's voice, then who are we to believe? Every faith believes that they are the true messengers sent by God to spread the word.
The truth of the matter is that psyhics and prophets come from various religions and faiths. We must try to focus on the words that they give to us, rather than on what religious background they come from. Most psychics and prophets teach about dooms day (final judgement) and God's love for his people. We cannot judge a prophet or a psychic until we see what results they give to us. The proper thing to do is to just give them a chance and let them prove themselves for who they say they are.
