Why do people say RIP( Rest In Peace) When A Loved One Pass Away? Read My Meaning I Came UP For RIP.
I like the
phrase Remember I am Present instead of Rest In Peace.
I saw someone wrote on my son's Facebook wall saying let Deshon Rest In
Peace. Or He is Resting In Peace. When I read that, I
wrote how we know my son is Resting In Peace. The
abbreviation RIP or R.I.P (Rest In Peace) is a common phrase
people say because it is what they heard throughout their life. I am sure you
ask some people why they say Rest In Peace they might not be
able to give you a good answer. Some people will come up with their own
denotation of what R.I.P (Rest
In Peace) means to them.
This phrase is comments from Christians and Catholics? It's a common phrase where you wish their soul to be at peace.
I know people who say the abbreviation
or phrase does not mean any disrespect. It's
their way just to show respect for those who are no longer with us. RIP
(Rest In Peace) is an expression
that some people real do not know the mean behind the phrase. But for some people, old habits are hard to
break. It's just a figure of speech. However, some people don't agree with
others views. Some people may see it's an idiotic thing to say and I they will
never said the phrase.
On the other hand some
people think it is meaningless phrase that brings comfort to the bereaved. Do you really think R.I.P
(Rest In Peace) brings comfort to the bereaved? Some people believed
we should not get caught up in words. I think we should really research words
before we use them because in some part of the world words/phrase can something
positive to another culture but insulting to another.
(Rest In Peace) phrase bother me a little bit. I do not need to be reminded
my son is gone; I know he is not with me.
The phrase (Rest
In Peace) might be a good phrase when you know a person was afflicted
with a life threaten Illness that had them suffering during their duration on
this earth and they say I cannot deal with this torment anymore I want to be at
peace than (Rest In Peace ) will be acceptable to me. On the
other hand, if someone like my child was taken in a horrific way by the hand of
another human being (Rest In Peace) is not acceptable to me.
These people wanted to live but their life was stolen from them. How do we know
our loved ones gone before us are Resting In Peace? We cannot speak
for them nor read their mind.
Therefore, I came up
with the phrase (Remember I am Present) because the life they had
touched by their smile, physical touch, laughter, present or their words
of wisdom they instill is still in existence and left a print in our heart and
mind.
(Rest In Peace) is a reminder that they are gone which is
true physically but (Remember I am Present) make me feel that
my son’s spirit still lives on. As well as his memories and wisdom he shared
stills live on, which is a part of his energy he left behind. I guess people
have to use phrase that they think work for them.
I think before we use some
phrases/words we should know the meaning behind them because everyone do not share
the same religious belief or culture values.
R.I.P. is
an abbreviation for the Latin words requiescat in pace or its English equivalent "rest in peace".
